  2. No rules layer. Every impossible combination a customer can reach is a refund, a delay and a bad review waiting to happen.

  3. Pricing bolted on last. Retrofitting live pricing into a finished configurator is close to rebuilding it.

  4. Ignoring the phone. Sixty percent of the traffic, and usually the last thing tested.

  5. Too many choices, too early. A first screen with nine option groups is a bounce. Sequence the decisions the way a good salesperson would.
